Send a letter, a sketch, or a crossing memory
We read every letter. We can't answer every letter the same week — sometimes we answer the same season — but we read, and we keep, every single one.
The form below goes straight to the editorial inbox. If you'd prefer to write to us by email, post, or in person, the addresses are below the form.

In person
Our editorial pigeon-hole is at the kiosk on the harbour side of the Den Helder ferry terminal — drop a postcard, a letter, or a sketch in, and it will reach us within a few crossings.
Reply times
We aim to read every letter within a week, and reply within four weeks. If your message is time-sensitive, please say so in the subject line — we always make room for those.
If you'd like to contribute
We are always open to short essays, field notes, sketches and reader letters. We do not pay contributors in money — we wish we could — but we send a free year of the journal, an invitation to the autumn editorial dinner in Oudeschild, and our genuine thanks. Send a draft, no longer than 1,500 words, with a sentence or two about who you are and how the island has caught your attention. Sketches and photographs are very welcome.
"The most beautiful letter we ever received was eleven words long. The longest was thirty-seven pages. We loved them equally." — Editorial archive, 2022
